GXU’s School of Public Policy and Management Successfully Launches 2024 “BoXue” Summer Camp for Outstanding Students

On the morning of July 9th, the 2024 “BoXue” Summer Camp for Outstanding Students, hosted by the School of Public Policy and Management at GXU, officially began. The opening ceremony was attended by Mr.Shi Yungui, Dean of the School, Vice Deans Mr.Zhou Junxu and Mr.Qin Zhimin, and Mr. Xiong Bin, Deputy Director of the MPA Education Center. This marks the sixth consecutive year the School has organized the “BoXue” Summer Camp, utilizing a hybrid “online and offline” format. Over 70 students from more than 40 universities across the country participated both virtually and in person.

Mr. Shi Yungui delivered the opening remarks, extending a warm welcome to all participants and providing a brief overview of Guangxi University and the School of Public Policy and Management. He highlighted that the public administration discipline is a focal point of Guangxi University's “211 Project” and the “Midwestern Universities Comprehensive Strength Enhancement Project.” The School has developed a strong faculty and a comprehensive talent cultivation system, establishing a distinct regional advantage through years of education and practice.

Dean Shi Yungui emphasized that the summer camp has consistently adhered to the School’s motto, “Extensive Learning and Diligent Practice,” offering opportunities for students both inside and outside the university to learn about the School’s disciplines and engage with esteemed faculty. He concluded his remarks with hopes and best wishes for the participating students:

Stay True to Your Original Aspiration and Work Steadily. As young people in modern China, students should uphold a spirit of rigorous scientific research, innovative discipline concepts, and solid academic knowledge. They should remain mindful of their mission in this era, value investigative research, and effectively use public management knowledge, theories, and methods to tell China’s story.

Integrate Knowledge and Practice. Students are encouraged to seize this valuable learning opportunity, adhere strictly to study requirements, complete tasks diligently, develop a problem-oriented mindset, and excel in summarizing and reflecting on daily learning.

Engage in Exchange and Mutual Learning for Common Growth. The School provides a wide platform for communication and discussion, and students are encouraged to benefit from intellectual exchanges and knowledge sharing.

Following this, Vice Dean Mr. Zhou Junxu provided a comprehensive introduction to the School, covering aspects such as its overview, discipline development, faculty, research achievements, and talent cultivation model. He warmly welcomed students from universities nationwide to pursue further studies at the School.

The summer camp offers a range of activities, including academic lectures, recruitment and admission policy briefings, leaderless group discussions, presentations by campers, and virtual campus tours. These activities aim to foster intellectual exchange among outstanding students, inspire interest in scientific research, enhance understanding of the School’s graduate programs, and lay the foundation for graduate school recommendations and applications in 2025 by thoroughly assessing the academic performance, research capabilities, and overall qualities of the campers.
