The three-day camp was highly praised by attendees, who reported a fulfilling and enriching experience.

Closing Ceremony

On the morning of July 11, the closing ceremony of the 2024 "BoXue" Summer Camp took place in Room 107 and was simultaneously conducted online. The ceremony was attended by Vice Dean Qin Zhimin and faculty representatives Feng Ting, Qiao Xinyi, and Lan Yuanmei. The event was presided over by Yu Dan, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the School.

During the ceremony, Vice Dean Qin Zhimin delivered a closing speech, extending warm congratulations on the successful conclusion of the "BoXue" Summer Camp and expressing heartfelt thanks to the participating students. He summarized the camp activities, noting that the theme of "Extensive Learning" was effectively implemented through a combination of online and offline formats. Students experienced a virtual tour of the campus, immersing themselves in Guangxi University's rich academic and cultural environment, and engaged in face-to-face discussions with faculty members and experts. The camp also included leaderless group discussions and academic presentations that highlighted students' logical thinking and analytical abilities.

Mr. Qin Zhimin articulated three aspirations for the attendees: First, he encouraged them to rigorously engage with classic academic literature, establish a robust theoretical framework, and courageously apply their knowledge in practical contexts. Second, he urged them to maintain an open and inclusive mindset, collaborate with like-minded peers to foster mutual growth through shared learning and support, and actively engage with societal issues. He emphasized the importance of contemplating how they might better serve society and contribute to the nation from a public management perspective. Third, he underscored the significance of aligning personal ambitions with the broader objectives of national development, inspiring them to let their youth flourish through dedication to the nation and its people.

In conclusion, Qin Zhimin expressed his best wishes for the students, encouraging them to regard this summer camp as a new starting point from which to continue their journey with vigor and achieve even greater accomplishments.

Icebreaker Activities

On July 8, ahead of the official start of the summer camp, the institute organized a unique icebreaker event aimed at facilitating introductions and reducing initial awkwardness among participants. Using an online platform, campers introduced themselves, took part in a series of interactive games, and engaged in a Q&A session. This activity created a warm and engaging environment, effectively setting the stage for the upcoming camp activities.

Virtual Campus Tour

During the camp, participants enjoyed a virtual tour of the beautiful  campus. Through guided video footage, they explored the grand entrance, walked through tree-lined avenues and blooming gardens, and visited iconic sites such as Hui Xue Hall and the library. This virtual tour allowed them to appreciate the scenic beauty of the campus while experiencing GXU's rich academic tradition and vibrant cultural atmosphere.

Policy Briefing and Subject Introduction

On the afternoon of July 10, a session on admission policies and academic programs was held. Vice Dean Qin Zhimin, Professor Tang Yuquan, Associate Professor Su Yiqing, and Associate Professor Li Guoliang participated, with Liu Peiyao, Secretary of the Youth League Committee, moderating. Qin Zhimin provided a detailed overview of the 2024 master’s program admissions and the university's current admission policies.

Faculty-Student Exchange

During the exchange session, campers asked a variety of questions about research direction, academic trends, emerging topics, and subject knowledge based on their interests and future plans. Faculty members addressed these questions in detail, offering valuable insights and guidance.

Peer Sharing Session

During the sharing session, the school invited Xu Xiaofeng and Zhang Xiaoyin, who have been accepted into doctoral programs at Beihang University and Xi'an Jiaotong University, respectively, to share their experiences. The two guests discussed their experiences as master’s students at GXU, their three-year study plans, advice for applying to doctoral programs, and publishing research. They engaged with the summer camp participants, answering questions and offering insights. This exchange highlighted the institute's robust educational achievements, helping participants gain a clearer understanding of graduate studies and life, and sparking their enthusiasm for future academic careers.

Expert Lectures

During the summer camp, the institute arranged two insightful academic lectures for the campers. Professor Shi Yungui delivered a lecture titled “Exploring Urban Spatial Morphology and Green Governance Pathways for Achieving a Better Life for the People,” while Academician Long Hualou presented on “Land System Science and Innovations in Land Use Transformation.” These lectures played a significant role in broadening the campers' academic perspectives and stimulating their research interests.

Group Discussion

The leaderless group discussion, conducted in a competitive format, was a key component in evaluating candidates for Outstanding Camper status. All participants showed remarkable enthusiasm and eagerness to contribute. They offered diverse perspectives, demonstrating outstanding analytical abilities, adaptability, and teamwork, which enriched the discussions with depth and energy.

In the Achievement Presentation segment, camper representatives shared their research outcomes. Faculty members Feng Ting, Lan Yuanmei, Qiao Xinyi, and Lu Lu served as evaluators. The representatives presented their exemplary undergraduate research, covering topics such as rural revitalization, ecological governance, green development, vocational education, and public policy, reflecting their individual research interests and expertise.

Throughout the vibrant and varied activities of the summer camp, participants each made their own gains.
